ASPPA Webcast: Self-Correction of Failures Not Addressed in EPCRS

June 6, 2019 by Employee Benefits Law Group

EBLG Partner Jim Paul took attendees on a deep dive through the IRS’s Self-Correction Program (SCP) in this April webcast. Starting with general correction principles, he covered case studies taken from real-life experiences — everything from commonplace to creative problem solving to “do not try this at home.” The recorded webcast is available for on-demand viewing until April 25, 2020.

Webcast Takeaways

  • Updated knowledge of SCP rules and general correction principles.
  • New approaches to correcting plan errors.
  • The limits of self-correction under existing guidance.

Seminar Snippet: Self-Correcting Plan Loan Errors

One topic Jim covered was the IRS’s 2019 update to its Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS). You can learn how the update allows for self-correction of plan loan failures in Jim’s latest Speaking of Benefits podcast Self Correction Program – Good News From The IRS.
